Targeted Cryotherapy

What is Targeted Cryotherapy?

Local cryotherapy is a targeted cold therapy treatment to help with pain relief and support recovery from sports and lifestyle injuries and post-op rehabilitation. Treatments are non-invasive. There is no need for anesthetic, there are no needles, and there is no post-treatment scarring.

Unlike Whole Body Cryotherapy, which stimulates cold receptors all over the body in order to trigger an internal systemic anti-inflammatory response, local cryotherapy is comparable to "icing", although much more powerful and efficient based on our experience. Clients frequently combine this application with Whole Body Cryotherapy, to treat problem areas both from the "inside out" as well as from the "outside-in".

Benefits of Targeted Cryotherapy
Local cryotherapy is regularly used in to treat both acute and chronic injuries of soft tissue, to help reduce pain, inflammation and swelling.

Using a hand held device, the qualified sports therapist applies cold air to the target area(s), which triggers the body's anti-inflammatory responses. Local cryotherapy treatments are designed to target a specific area of the body to help provide the following benefits:

  • Relieve pain
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Decrease swelling
  • Increase range of motion
  • Speed recovery

What To Expect:
  • -240F air vapor applied to a targeted body part
  • A fine mist of chilled air vapor is applied to body part for 3 to 5 minutes
  • Reduces pain, inflammation, and swelling in specific areas
